Cooking Kale with Beer

If you're a fan of beer, perhaps you might like to cook it with your greens.  The inspiration behind this dish came from my sister's trip to Montreal a few years ago.  She ate something similar at a restaurant and thought it had interesting flavours and looked like it would be easy to make.

Here are the ingredients for this dish:
- One bunch of kale
- A few cloves of garlic (make sure you take out the white stem in the center of each clove to reduce the outcome of gas. A trick I learned from one of my cooking classes... haha)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Paprika
- 1 can of beer
- Additional seasoning of your choice (optional).  We used "Slap Ya Mama" Cajun seasoning, which was something my sister picked up when she was in New Orleans.

This is actually a much overdue post as this dish was created last year when my sister hosted a cousins get-together. I don't quite remember the step by step instructions anymore.  Here are some pictures to give you an idea of how it was done.
Dicing the garlic
Adding garlic and oil to the frying pan

Slap Ya Mama Seasoning
Beer, the key ingredient to this recipe

Seasoning and beer added to the dish
Stirfry kale with beer ready to be served

Aaaaaand... it's done!  The final masterpiece :)

These were the other dishes that we had that night.  We also made the baked potatoes. My cousins brought over tandoori chicken (yum!) and a salad.  It was a good night.

  1. Basically, after the oil is heated, you add the garlic. Then, add kale and beer. The kale will wilt after a few minutes. Add seasoning to taste.
