Coffee Ornaments and...Poo

Last year, I made Christmas ornaments as party favours for my friends.  This year, I decided to carry on the tradition and create something as well.  I came across this article, "10 DIY Holiday Gifts for Literally Everybody in your Life" and the one project that caught my eye was the Starbucks figurines. If you look up "Starbucks clay mini figurines" on YouTube, you'll find lots of other tutorials that demonstrate how to make them.

Yummy Meatballs!

My office organized a baby shower last month and we all had to bring a dish to the party.  I decided to make meatballs since it went well with the gender of the baby :)  I remember that my brother-in-law, Anson, made some pretty good meatballs in the past, so I decided to borrow his recipe.

Faizah M's Doughnuts!

I'm a MasterChef fan and this season they made contestants make a box of doughnuts for one of their Pressure Tests.  I thought it was a very cool and interesting challenge, so when my friend, Faizah revealed to me that her latest baking project were doughnuts, I had to get her to post something for my blog!

Faizah discovered this recipe by chance from flipping through the April 2014 issue of Cuisine at Home.  Since she has never made doughnuts before, she figured it would be a fun way to spend her afternoon. Challenge accepted!

My Heart "Beets" for Salads

I know... I know... lame title, but it cracks me up :)  Plus, who doesn't love beets and summer salads?  I was craving for a simple summer salad, so I went on Allrecipes.com and I found this Roasted Beets and Feta Cheese salad recipe.

Making a Magnetic Board

Until this project, I never really thought that crafting can be dangerous if you don't have the right tools and if you are not careful (more about this later). Back in December, I purchased a magnetic board at Make It Vancouver Craft Fair for my Secret Santa gift exchange with my friends. My friend, Amy, ended up selecting my gift, but a couple of my other friends also liked the magnetic board.  Since I was curious to learn how the board was made and the friends that liked my gift had their birthdays coming up, I was determined to make one.

Cooking Kale with Beer

If you're a fan of beer, perhaps you might like to cook it with your greens.  The inspiration behind this dish came from my sister's trip to Montreal a few years ago.  She ate something similar at a restaurant and thought it had interesting flavours and looked like it would be easy to make.

Here are the ingredients for this dish:
- One bunch of kale
- A few cloves of garlic (make sure you take out the white stem in the center of each clove to reduce the outcome of gas. A trick I learned from one of my cooking classes... haha)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Paprika
- 1 can of beer
- Additional seasoning of your choice (optional).  We used "Slap Ya Mama" Cajun seasoning, which was something my sister picked up when she was in New Orleans.

Delicious Autumn Cheesecake

I've always wanted to learn how to make a cheesecake since it's such a classic dessert. I decided for my family Christmas dinner this year that it would be a great opportunity for me to learn how to make one and serve it for the dessert course. The recipe that I picked was the Autumn Cheesecake from Allrecipes.com.
